Play Move Improve Centre: Child Safety Policy
Statement of Commitment: Play Move Improve Centre is committed to safety, inclusivity, and the well-being of all children and young people. We have zero tolerance for child abuse and are committed to providing a safe environment where teenagers aged 12–17 can socialize, create, and play.
1. Scope & Applicable Frameworks
This policy applies directly to Robyn Papworth (Centre Director/Facilitator) and any future staff, volunteers, or contractors at 7 Meadowgate Drive, Chirnside Park. It aligns strictly with the Victorian Child Safe Standards and is overseen by the Social Services Regulator (SSR).
2. Physical Space & Supervision Controls (The Room Division)
Because our weekly sessions feature a physically divided space (Boardgames and Crafts) run concurrently:
-
Sightlines: The facilitator must maintain clear visual sightlines across both sections of the room at all times.
-
1-on-1 Rule: A child must never be left entirely isolated or out of sight with an adult. If a participant requires individual emotional regulation or sensory support, this will occur in an open, visible area of the centre using appropriate sensory resources.
-
Bathroom Transfers: Participants are responsible for their own bathroom hygiene. The facilitator will monitor the transition to and from the designated on-site facilities but will not enter the cubicle area unless there is an emergency.
3. Record Keeping & Mandatory Reporting
-
Attendance Logs: Accurate digital logs of attendance, parent contact details, and specific activity sections will be maintained via Jotform for every session.
-
Incident Reports: Any minor or major breaches of safety, disclosure of harm, or distinct behavioral incidents must be documented in writing within 24 hours.
-
Reportable Conduct Scheme: Any allegation of abuse or inappropriate behavior targeting a minor within this centre must be reported to the Social Services Regulator (SSR) by the Centre Director within mandatory legislative timelines.
