Core Connections Coaching Program
Why We Created Core Connections
Over the past few years, we've seen a significant decline in children's foundational skills. To meet this challenge, we adapted our 'Let's Regulate' and Movement Intervention Program (MIP) program. However, in delivering this program across Australia, our team of highly qualified ECTs encountered a new reality: the children's movement and self-regulation needs were so high that one coach was often not enough. Educators were finding that SRF menu items were creating more work for them, than the help and support that they feel it should be providing.
Core Connections is our direct response. It’s a re-engineered program built for this new reality, ensuring there are always enough educators to provide the focused, hands-on support every child deserves, for the whole group, for 45 minutes, across 8 sessions.
No more SRF learning in your own time or aware from your class. You get the space to build relationships with your groups, while we provide developmentally appropriate strategies.

A Look Inside the Core Connections Sessions
Each 45 minute session is built around three 12 to 15 minute rotational experiences. These groups directly target the core developmental areas your team are finding overwhelming every day.
The Yarning Circle
This group builds communication and social skills. Children practice turn-taking and waiting, which directly supports impulse control. By listening to peers' ideas and sharing their own, they develop an understanding of different perspectives, a key component of theory of mind. We explicitly model how to enter and exit play respectfully, boosting pro-social behaviour and foundational play skills.
The Movement Group
This group targets physical development and self-control. Through structured games and activities, we address low motor skills by building body awareness, balance, and coordination. Following multi-step instructions and participating in group games requires focus and patience, providing critical practice for children with poor impulse control. Successfully navigating physical challenges builds confidence and resilience.
The Relaxation Mat
This group focuses on emotional regulation and mindfulness. Children learn to recognise their body's signals for stress and anxiety, a vital step in managing impulse control. We teach practical, calming techniques like mindful breathing, giving children the tools for self-regulation. Learning to reset after a moment of frustration or disappointment is a powerful skill that builds emotional resilience.
